I bought a 1988 325icA two weeks ago on craigslist for $100. Yes you heard that right.
$100. It was somewhat banged up, but it ran and drove well. The PO got
sick of it because the drivers door latch stopped working. Well I
handed him $100 and took it home. That's when I figured out the the
door latch wasn't broken. It was actually the deadbolt feature that was
locked!!! So I just unlocked it and it started working!!!!! Ya gotta
love that kind of stuff.

I shampooed the carpets and flipped it to a local teenager for $1650. I think I have a picture of it here somewhere. Nice color.

Well......before
long my good friend Bill sent me another Craigslist post for a bike. He knew I was
looking for an oil head twin. But an 87 K100RT caught his eye because of the pretty color and he
sent me a note on it. I went and looked at it. The bike was donated to
a local charity place. It was extremely dirty, but basically in good
shape, fluids looked fresh, bad tires, extremely dirty, some oil
weepage from water pump housing....still 121,000 miles is not too bad
for a K bike, especially when the seat is in good condition and it is
"all there". I started it up and it ran ok but I figured the shaft
splines must be gone. Why would someone donate such a nice bike, even
if it was so dirty? They were asking $1600, but I picked it up for
$1100.

Took it home and replaced the tires and brake pads
and all fluids (~$400). Checked the splines and greased them. Removed
all the fairings, replaced the fuel lines, cleaned it up and polished
it. It looks great! Nice color. I love it.

I took it on a 100 mile drive yesterday...down through Morgan Hill,
through the mountains past Laguna Seca raceway to Carmel CA and up the
coast through Santa Cruz. It drives great! What a pleasant machine to
ride. Perhaps I don't want a twin....

So let's see, I put made $1550 on the 325ica and spent 1400 on the K100. I think I owe Bill a nice dinner!!!!! My new to me 87 K100RT Icon_smile_bigMy new to me 87 K100RT Icon_smile_bigMy new to me 87 K100RT Icon_smile_bigMy new to me 87 K100RT Icon_smile_big
