Probably wont have an O2 sensor as it is a K100 with Moronic 2.1 have to go 2.2 before O2 sensor is included in the deal.

Here we go then, funny really it was just by chance that the 86rs had the paralever as I never knew until I had brought the bike and went to pick it up. Charlie I inserted the spacer that it came with and I noticed that it was thicker than the K100 one.

Yer think I need to switch to the K100 thinner spacer, you guys are right.
Did the front end but no cigar as couldn't get it all finished, I stuck with the location of the ignition switch of the k1100 dash but kept the k100 ignition switch (didn't get the key as for the K1100 as didn't have one). Did a very non Halo thing and just cut down the aluminium section on the K1100 triple clamp to accommodate the K100 ignition.
The throttle cable holder bracket was a pain as well due to the plenum chamber of the K100 being in the way but worked out fine.
Stage I got to by 7:00pm

Cheers Rossco spot on have you been here already mate ?. Got it pulled up the drive half way with the 110cc atomic quad (seriously over powered for it's size) and rolled her down the hill and away she went. Left her half way up the drive for a bump start tomorrow Charlie , tomorrow on the flats at work I will put the diesel oil with the good stuff.
Wondering how she will handle down the twisty hill to the flats with the new to me rear and front end, the front end in particular from the K1100 looks way different in size and contour (tyre and rim setup) of the K100 setup. Looks like it will turn quicker to me.

Good work, Halo. You'll love the k1100 front end. I had one on my K100RT and transfered it to my K75 when I bought it. Both bikes' handling improved markedly with the progressive springs. You'll find the bike is more comfortable on the long straights because the wheelbase is slightly extended (I understand from other's measurements). The braking will be night and day with the 4-pot Brembos on the front. A transformation well worth the investment in time to perform.

BTW, is your rear 4.50X17 (seeing that you commented on the wider tire)?

Ridden a few times now must say that the diesel oil did the trick for the starter issue. The front brakes are fantastic, the suspension is really good, front feels stronger (triple clamps better etc ?), the rear feels great however the turning is really different now !!!!!!!. Did the rake angle change between the K100 and K1100 ?. Really hard to turn hard in corners.

Halo

I've been following this.
Neat find of the parts!
Like what you are doing with them.

Might as well now ask what I'm sure that others would like to know.

What is a rego?

Thoughts are that it is a vehicle inspection perpetrated by/mandated by road authorities?

Charlie come visit mate i really would like to meet you it's only 40mins on the ring road.

Changed the fork oil as she was bottoming out (hope it's the fork oil)

My 84 K100 RS restoration - Page 17 Img_4124

I mostly got the trays , mostly

Thought I would share a yarn with you all, I flagged down a bloke yesterday on my road who I have seen a few times and it turns out he got his K100RS in 89 new. He has done 398000km's without doing anything to his bike but routine maintenance. Original water\oil pump and seal etc, I told him, to drop around as he lives just 2 minutes up the road and I would love to work on his bike as it is a legend, he paid 12 thou in 1989.
He has a towel on the tank with two strips to hold it down and his dog used to ride with him on the tank until the law ruled it out, his comment was little do they know that the dog was the reason I have lived so long riding a bike because I always took it fairly easy as I didn't want to kill the dog on the bike. Classic comment in my mind.
Also stated that BMW was so keen to make their mark with the K100's that when his tank weld broke loose and leaked petrol that that air flew one in from Germany within two days

I read on the Moto Guzzi forums where one fellow raised the stanchions in the triple clamps on his V7 Racer. It improved the corning ability of the bike (which is notoriously slow in the corners). You might try that on your K100. Raise it 8-10mm max. to see the effect.

Cheers Robmack for the advice.
Well like they say once you start stuffing with a good thing, I have burnt my clutch plate out, might be coincidence but I think not. Too many 6thou rmp starts at the lights, coupled with the bit more power (mainly torque) of the hybrid beast. Need to get one quick for the trip and also so I can do some more 6thou rmp starts. Any ideas guys which is the most heavy duty considering I am going to keep modding the bikes engine for more power still ??????
Oh and do I need a heavier clutch diaphragm use well ????????
Halo

Once more someone finds the weak point. A burned clutch was the very first thing that went wrong on the release of the K to the tender mercies of a bunch of journos.
The 1200s has a different clutch setup but don't know if it fits in with the 5 speed box. Mind it's not that much better but it is better by a bit.
I have a new plate here but it is only an ordinary one but Bins have a heat resistant plate for 70 squids. Probably pay to get new pressure and drive plates as well if you intend giving it a hard time.

yep agree rick new presure plate as well halo

the old plates would have to be a bit ...erm softer after all these years

that been said ..possibly the ring and all that is possible halo

just a tad more expensive and time consuming than replacing rear tyres and chains and sprokets all the time ....maybe even cheeper on the beemer than i thought concidering the price differences since the 70s halo

The pressure plates get hard spots in them but more important is they dish, even with normal wear and tear.
I have about 6 sets here and not one good one amongst them. I had to machine one flat to get one for the K1100 and I can tell you it aint worth the trouble you have to go to. That was when I found out about the hard spots.

Not sure Mr Halo has posted the 'whole' story here.

I am not sure how any clutch can be a weak point when you are trying to do 'race starts' on your 27 year old road bike outside your office (cause there isnt a lot of traffic and the road is really good!) and see if you can get the front wheel off the ground for an extended period.

Does that about sum it up Mr Halo? Twisted Evil

The rest of the bike is almost bullet proof. The clutch is nearly BB proof.

Found that the lower K1100 tripple clamp sits lower than the K100 so the middle fairing piece (radiator cover piece) I had to cut down, almost killed me to cut a good condition part.

Also fitted the factory 25Ah BMW battery I purchased from the K1100 bloke. Much better than the one I had fitted whilst starting. Speakeing of such things the starter problem is fixed now thanks to the Diesel oil.
