The Frame is finished for now, I used the air grinder with buffing pad and polish to a finish that for a save from a bad spray will do nicely.I hit the next parts with the sand blaster.

Of course I use cotton buds. I don't know why you would suggest anyone would use anything else. It's obvious.
And I find they work better with the tears of kittens. Just gives that extra little bit of a polish.

Actually Halo, you can't see much of a K frame when the bike's fully assembled.

Well, I guess you suffer from the same malady as me.......getting a super finish on parts that are hidden on the finished bike.

I am flabbergasted at the results Paul.
Obviously you are not using the standard moggy for those tears. And such a large container.
I would almost guess those poor kittens cry stainless.

Halo, My two pennies worth . Go with the matte finish..the gloss doesn't look quite right in the photos when you have the components together. Looking good either way, really good ! keith

Thanks for your honesty Keith I agree, all other black parts will be matt black (look common rail injectors & airbox) the frame will not being seen anyway. The KBS black is really strong and I wanted that for the frame, I have purchased the matt black for the plastic bits now in a 1 litre tin to spray so stay tuned.

Was able to complete the loom cleaning inwhich I was able to salvage the material wrapping, then insert into frame.



More bits sandblasted, forks sandblasted as well, wheels next.

OG was going to leave them al finished like how they were from new, but as usual with me kbs clear them so I dont have to do anything but wash them again.

Quick work Halo. trying to get the wiring back together is one bit that would seriously daunt me in the reassembly process. It's looking ultra clean mate.

The wheels was painted from factory......silber code 131.

Amazing result so far...........let it stay put in the living room when you are finished.

You`re correct, the engine, gearbox, swingarm, FD and footrest bridges was left unpainted.

They were all painted from new, mostly silver but AFAIK none were bare aluminium finish.

As usual thanks for the info guys looks like I have to buy some more paint again, reckon I have spent over $800 in paint etc so far and I haven't even sprayed the fairing etc yet.

88 yes it's all fast & furious now that the frame is on, so my directions to attack.

Once again wow.
You have even countersunk the bolts for the shiny top of your work bench.
I found it easier to countersink the bench top. My bolts now stick up nice and high.

I am also surprised how nice the parts look in as far as wear and tear.
My battery tray looks like a lead acid battery has been on it for 26 years with all the pits and divots. Yours looks almost new.

And I will hunt around for an old stubby holder for you Halo. Don't want that CD on the bench getting hot under the lights.

Always luv your comments Rossco countersink the bench, I'm amazed how good the parts are as well considering when you look at the start of my thread the condition the bike was in. BMW stubby holder yes thanks and the LED lights I got from work for free from my Boss (thanks Mike) are fantastic. Really good white light, I have 16 fluro sized led globes in at present. Thanks wngnutmv anyone can do it, it's just patience and learning from your mistakes money does add up but a bike shop would charge alot more and it's fun.

Did some more parts again buffed and cleaned/ serviced the fan internals, mine were all fine. The parts luckily are in very good condition mechanically and cosmetically, so much in fact I that I wont paint them.









Is the mark in the radiator suppost to be there ? is it a manufacturing mark or from a repair ?

Looks a bit nasty those cracks at the water stub, do you see them also on the inside?

Yes Inge K thats what I meant the marks /cracks not the part number. So its a repair ? Are the radiator ends aluminium ?

These marks could also be from the manufacturing process/molding.

It`s easier for you to judge, than just looking at a picture
(if it`s cracks it should have some sharp edges).

The end caps is some kind of plastic material.
(often the plastic type is marked on the part, for sorting the different on the recycling).

Cheers will have a closer look tommorrow as the sheds looked up for tonight

I had a chance to attack some more parts this week & today for the first time in a long while there was sun so I made hay while the sun shined.







Happy with the gun finish as you can create the texture to your own liking depending on the amount of air/thinners etc.

Halo your presentation is fantastic, earlier you said you would start on the wheels, and to be honest I would think the "can of clear" you are using would do it justice for sure. I would expect the consistancy to present better, but if its factual authenticity then certainly the silver is needed then

I was informed today that many of the car/bike detailers use hair spray instead of clear paint....apparently it is cheaper. I wonder how PERManent it would be?

Those rubber parts look better than new - another can of stuff goes on to my list of things to buy!

How did you clean them prior to painting? Soap and water and let dry?

mirror finish halo .... it will be a pity to have to crush them up geting them in those little holes around the radiator .

Yes its good stuff guys. Rossco you need to use degresser first gst 10 cans for what ever deal is usually. Use a container underneath to chatch excess clearner so you can reuse. Spray and clean with toothbrush and brush all sections of the part. Its all about working on the part at different angles, tilt it to the light and you will see the crud layers getting thinner and then disapear. Then soapy water and spray.
Charlie the dye spray is different it does get in and l was able to distort the rubber easy whilst the spray held on well.
